Interview with Mercedes Laureano Conception, Boat Captain at Dressel Divers Punta Cana

Mercedes Laureano Conception has been working as a boat captain at Dressel Divers Punta Cana for only a few months, but he has already become an indispensable member of the team.

We have visited him in the beautiful pristine waters of Bavaro and we have interviewed him so that you can get to know better this friendly sea lover.

1. Why did you choose this job? 

For the tranquility that it transmits to me and the skills, I have for the job.

2. How long have you been working for Dressel Divers?

Since some months ago, but I knew the company before.

3. What are your main responsibilities and tasks?

Boat captain, keeping the boat in perfect condition and customer service.

4. What qualities do you think a person with your job needs to be successful?

Friendly, patient, respectful and know how to listen.

5. What do you like most about your job?

I enjoy every aspect of this job, especially being outdoors.

6.  Do you have any noteworthy mannerisms or rituals in your work?

Pray to god before starting.

7. What accomplishment are you most proud of working for Dressel Divers?

Clients feel safe in my boat and with me as captain.

8. What features and opportunities made you choose to work with this company in particular?

The camaraderie and the opportunities.

9. What has been your most memorable moment, here at Dressel Divers?

To see how we came together after the Hurricane, a more united team than before.

10. Why would you recommend Dressel Divers to other captains looking for a job?

Because the work environment is one of respect and we all assume our responsibilities.

11. What has been the biggest compliment you have received from a client?

 I have been congratulated for knowing how to navigate in difficult conditions.

12. What is the best advice you would give to someone who wants to take a job like captain, to be as good as you?

Caution, attention, and do not stop thanking God.

13. What are your other hobbies? What do you do on your days off here in Punta Cana?

Organize my house and be with the family.

14. Do you also dive or snorkel?

I’ve been scuba diving as Discover Scuba Diving student before but never certified and I like to snorkel.
