Undoubtedly Cozumel is one of the world’s diving meccas, a privileged site with crystal clear waters, amazing reefs, and a vibrant profusion of life. Palancar (8-18 meters / 26-60 feet)

Level: intermediate to expert.

Current: moderate.

As we described in the article “Palancar Reef, A Paradise For Scuba Divers” it has 4 parts: Gardens, Horseshoe, Caves, and Bricks. This reef is part of the best scuba diving in Cozumel because of its great extension.  5 kilometers of spectacular colorful reef formations.

Santa Rosa Reef (15 meters / 50 feet) and Santa Rosa Wall (22-25 meters / 72-82 feet)

Level: intermediate

Current: moderate to strong.

It is part of the best scuba diving in Cozumel for its suitability for multilevel diving. The Santa Rosa Wall is a very popular deep dive for divers visiting the island.

There, the coral structure, which starts at around 15m/50ft, drops off into the blue and is adorned with gorgonians and multicolored sponges.

The entire reef is inhabited by all kinds of marine life, where you can admire colorful triggerfish, hawksbill turtles, nurse sharks, and even the splendid Cozumel toadfish native to the island.

Yucab Reef (15-18 meters / 50-60 feet)

Level: intermediate

Current: moderate to strong.

More than 1000 m/3281 ft long by 20 m /66 ft wide, this reef is part of the best scuba diving in Cozumel by its own merits. Here the coral structures reach 3 to 6 m/ 10 to 20 ft. Crossing the seagrass, where the stingrays are, the wall drops off, it is excellent for multilevel diving also.

 

Cedral Wall Pass (22-24 meters / 72-79 feet)

Level: intermediate

Current: moderate to strong.

It is one of the best dives in Cozumel and a photographer’s paradise. As in the previous case, Cedral Wall has one and a half kilometers of soft coral hills that end in a breathtakingly beautiful wall. Nothing better than letting yourself be carried by the current, to enjoy it and the eagle rays, turtles, parrotfish, etc., that you can find there.

Punta Dalila (17 meters / 56 feet)

Level: beginner and intermediate

Current: moderate to strong.

It is a beautiful reef, shallow, ideal for night diving, or as a second tank.  It is one of the best dives in Cozumel because it offers the possibility to enjoy the colorful reef fish that inhabit it.

 

San Francisco Wall (15 meters / 50 feet)

Level: from beginner to intermediate

Current: moderate to strong.

The San Francisco reef divides its 800m/2,624ft length into 3 different sections: The crag, filled with colorful sponges; the seagrass flats and the wall, which, despite being a steep drop-off, does not reach the levels of those mentioned above.

Tormentos Reef (15-18 meters / 50-60 feet)

Level: intermediate

Current: moderate to strong.

The fast currents will blow you over one of the best dives in Cozumel. Tormentos reef is in itself an attraction for nature, photography, and diving lovers.

 

Cedral Passage (22-24 meters / 72-79 feet)

Level: Intermediate to advanced

Current: Moderate

Its spectacular caverns and tunnels make this one of the best dives in Cozumel and ideal to observe the island’s giant green moray eels up close.

Tunich Point (15-36 meters / 50-120 feet)

Level: intermediate to expert

Current: strong.

The sandy bottom of this dive site is at 21m/ 70ft. There you will find long hills of colorful corals and sponges 60 and 70ft, leading to a vertical drop-off. Along the top of the wall is where you will find most of the life that can be observed here.

 

Colombia Shallow (12 meters / 40 feet)

Level: beginner and intermediate

Current: moderate

Columbia Reef is famous for its shallow coral gardens of complex architecture. There you will find beautiful caves, arches, and coral pinnacles.
